All Waters by Perfume Genius
Last year, Perfume Genius, the musical project of singer/songwriter Mike Hadreas, released an enveloping debut LP entitled Learning. The album sorrowfully describes Hadreas’ relationship with a high school teacher (the excellent “Mr. Peterson”, for example), and uses some spectacularly vivid imagery. Luckily, Perfume Genius is back with new material from his upcoming album Put Your Back N 2 It, off the Matador label. His new track, “All Waters”, doesn’t stray too far away from his previous material, which is certainly a good thing. Though just barely over two minutes, “All Waters” captures the enough fervent emotion to last a lifetime: “I can take your hand on any crowded street, and hold you close to me.”
