No Sentiment by Cloud Nothings
Despite all the negative connotations that possibly come with associating oneself with Cleveland, OH, Cloud Nothings have broke through the city’s bubble to give us some delectable indie pop-punk. Their self-titled, full-length debut reached our honorable mentions list for album of the year, and impressed listeners with its frenetic yet addicting playback value. But if you’ve listened to any the material from the band’s upcoming LP, Attack On Memory, you’ll notice a drastic difference. No longer are there catchy hooks and welcoming riffs; rather, Attack On Memory seems to be as its title suggests: an attack on the band’s past through a radical shift in paradigm. Lead singer Dylan Baldi howls over noticeably more confrontational instrumentation, culminating in a belligerent and enticing coda.
Attack On Memory is out January 24 via Carpark.
