Contact Lens x SELA. - Split

Ohio-based Contact Lens has teamed up with Devante Tillis—better known as SELA.—on a wonderful ‘lil split EP that manages to bring out the best of each producer. Highlighted by Contact Lens’ Web 1.0-infused take on hip-hop/R&B production and SELA.’s ambient fixation on samples and synths, this EP proves to be a killer. But the best part about it? It’s absolutely free.

Behind The Back by Contact Lens
Nick Means is a fairly mysterious character on the Internet. Not much is known about the young man outside of the fact that he’s a prolific producer, as evidenced by his Daily Loops series where he released a new beat, well, daily. Means recently went under the pseudonym Contact Lens to continue his production, which can only be described as dreamy, laid-back, and undeniably infectious. “Behind The Back”, for instance, features sticky bass lines, winsome piano bits, and some casual horns that feel anything-but-casual. Madlib, J Dilla, and Ski Beatz would be proud.
